Mangaluru: The ‘Adyar Gramotsava – 2025’, jointly organised by the Adyar Gram Panchayat, Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota and Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, was held in a grand manner on Saturday, December 20, at the Sahyadri College Grounds, Adyar.
Organised with the message “Harmonious Village – Harmonious India”, the village festival began with a colourful procession by school children, drone displays, and folk dance performances, drawing enthusiastic participation from the community. The programme was ceremoniously inaugurated by the dignitaries through the release of pigeons, symbolising peace and harmony.
Narendra Nayak, Director of Expert Educational and Charitable Trust, inaugurated the sales stalls put up by Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota and village self-help groups by cutting the ribbon, and formally opened the event by ceremonially unveiling the coconut inflorescence.

Addressing the gathering, Narendra Nayak stressed the importance of inculcating discipline and self-restraint in children from a young age. “Villages must come together through organisations, institutions and community leaders to organise festivals like this and convey the values of peace, equality and unity in society. Adyar Gramotsava should serve as a model for other villages,” he said.
Chief guest Manoj Kumar, Managing Director of Minerva College, cautioned students about the rising number of road accidents and advised them to strictly follow traffic rules. He emphasised the need for discipline while driving and alertness while crossing roads to ensure safety.
Presiding over the programme, Adyar Gram Panchayat President Abdul Jaleel said that the event was made possible through the cooperation of all sections of society. “This Gramotsava has been organised to strengthen unity, harmony and mutual bonding among villagers. We will continue to organise many more socially relevant programmes in the future,” he assured.
Following the formal inauguration, a series of cultural competitions featuring students from schools within the Adyar Gram Panchayat limits were held. Cultural programmes by members of Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota and performances by Sahyadri College students added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations.
Among those present on the dais were Adyar Gram Panchayat Vice-President Zohara, Taluk-level Guarantee Committee President Surendra Kambli, Prakruti Sanjeevini Okkoota President Vijayalakshmi, PDO Abdul Ashraf, and former Panchayat President Abdul Sattar, among others.
The programme was compered by VJ Manoj Kumar, Vamanjoor, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
